where the money goes
25% of every bag, given away
We're a coffee company, not a charity. So we keep it simple: a quarter of every sale goes to organizations doing work we've looked into and believe in. Here's exactly who they are and how we picked them.
the model
how the giving works
Every bag carries one of four causes on the label. When you buy that bag, 25% of the sale price is committed to that cause — not 25% of profit, and not a portion of profit after expenses. It comes off the top of the sale.
you pick a cause
Each roast is tied to one cause. The cause is printed on the bag, so you know where your giving is directed before you buy.
we set aside 25%
A quarter of that sale is set aside for the cause on your bag. It's calculated on the sale price, not on profit.
we give it away
We send those funds to the organization working on that cause. We publish who they are and what they do below.
our process
how we choose
We're a small company, so we lean on organizations that have already been examined by people who do this professionally. Three of the four causes below are served by ministries evaluated by ROI Ministry, which publishes cost-per-outcome figures for the organizations it reviews. Those organizations are vetted by third-party philanthropic counsel Calvin Edwards & Co.
We look for a few things: transparent reporting, a clearly stated cost per outcome, independent review, and work we'd be glad to fund whether or not it ever appeared on a coffee bag. We are not experts in international development, and we don't pretend to be — that's exactly why we defer to organizations and evaluators who are.
the four causes
who we give to
Each organization publishes an average cost per outcome. Those figures are theirs, not ours — we've linked the source for every one so you can check them yourself.

where the numbers come from
Anywhere on this site that we show an impact figure — including the giving calculator — it's calculated from the published averages below. We don't generate our own impact estimates.
- illumiNations — $35 a month translates 12 verses of Scripture each year, until the work is done; 100% funds Bible translation work. illuminations.bible/12vc
- Neverthirst — averages a cost of $6.16 to provide a person with clean water for a year. roiministry.org/neverthirst
- Serv International — averages a cost of $0.13 to provide a meal to the poorest of the poor. roiministry.org/serv
- Homes of Hope (a YWAM program) — averages a cost of $1.14 per day of housing for one family. roiministry.org/ywam-homes-of-hope
These are averages published by the organizations and their evaluators, not guarantees. Real-world cost per outcome varies by region, project, and year. When we show what a given amount "could" provide, we are illustrating those published averages applied to a dollar figure — we are not promising a specific result, and we can't guarantee how any organization allocates the funds it receives. Figures are current as of the date we last reviewed the sources listed above.
an important note about these organizations
These organizations are not our partners, sponsors, or affiliates. They have no business relationship with this coffee gives:, no involvement in our company, and no role in our products, pricing, marketing, or operations.
They have not endorsed us, reviewed us, or approved anything we sell or say. We researched their work independently, chose them ourselves, and give to them the way any donor would.
